Outward Bound programs under Covid-19
20th March 2020 – 5pm
No programs will run in the April school holidays including Duke of Ed adventurous journeys.
We apologise for this inconvenience but public health concerns outweigh all other considerations.
If you have booked on these you will be contacted shortly regarding future plans.

At this stage all Outward Bound Australia school holiday programs will proceed as planned.
Outward Bound Australia is actively monitoring official advice and has developed strategies to best support the delivery of programs.
There are no confirmed cases in our program delivery areas. No staff working on program have been overseas in last 14 days. Should any staff develop flu like symptoms, they will immediately be directed to health care services. Outward Bound Australia:
- is following official advice from the Federal Government’s National Health Plan, NSW Chief Medical Officer and other State and Territory guidelines.
- has reviewed and adapted policy and procedures to align with Government recommendations regarding hygiene and preventative measures
- will continue to respond to the evolving recommendations
- is committed to deliver outdoor education programs in close consultation with our customers.
For upcoming school holiday programs, Outward Bound Australia:
- requests all parents ensure they do not send anyone with cold or flu symptoms onto programs.
- has developed a revised First Aid Guideline in line with the advice from Australian Government Guidelines for Paramedics and First Responders to manage any suspected viral infection. If a participant is deemed to require further medical assessment following Outward Bound’s First Aid Protocols, we will follow our standard procedures:
- chaperoning participants to seek medical care
- communicate with parents
- and if needed, arrange for the student to return home.
- is embedding Social Distancing measures across all programs, such as reduced number of students to a bivvie/tent, modified greetings, selection of appropriate games and team challenges
- has examined cleaning and hygiene procedures, in line with new Government advice:
- commercial cleaners are engaged for regular cleaning at all our facilities
- Kitchen staff, Program Coordinators and Instructing staff are trained in food safety and handling.
