How did you find out about the Leadership ACT program?

I came home from school one day and my dad informed me that he had booked me a camp.

What was your motivation to come on this program?

I love to challenge myself. I consider myself fortunate that my parents gave me this opportunity and when I saw the itinerary and all the different activities that I had never done before, I knew this was where I wanted to be during my school holidays.

Before you arrived, what were you hoping to get out of the experience?

I was looking forward to a break from school, and having a bit of an escape, and also to be challenged.

Now that your program has finished, what is something you learned or discovered because of your new experiences?

I learned more things about leadership and how I can implement leadership to a stronger degree in my life, such as with my family and school, and even in my activities like Jujitsu. I think it would be cool to go into coaching. I’ve finished the program wanting to further my skills and learn more.

I also met many different people that I normally wouldn’t have spoken to and made new friends. There is the experience of travelling to Canberra. I also learned that I like camping; I’d never gone camping before and this has been great.

What is your biggest highlight or take-away from your program experience?

When we visited Legoland. We learned about the land and how it has moved over time. And I challenged myself to squeeze through the cave; that was a highlight, along with climbing up with my friends and getting out of my comfort zone. This is something that I wouldn’t normally do.

Whom would you recommend this program to? 

Anyone! If you’re a high school student, or you’ve just left high school and you’re looking for something to do, to get away. I feel like everyone was welcome.
