Platinum Bound – 70 Years Heritage Journey
Feeling nostalgic for a classic Outward Bound journey? Join us for a one-off heritage journey that brings the Tharwa classics back. Join Dr. Loren Miller, our CEO and Co-Chair, on this heritage journey that revisits iconic oments from our 70-year history. Think early morning swims in the Murrumbidgee, sunrise jogs, camping under bivvies, summiting Mt Tennent, community service projects, and yes, flapjacks for breakfast.
Starting from our Tharwa campus, this expedition isn't just a trip down memory lane, it's a chance to reconnect with the Outward Bound spirit that's defined us for seven decades.
This program is for our alumni who want to relive the challenge of the journey and the beauty of the bush. This program is also for our friends not yet found, who have been looking for the chance to get Outward Bound and discover the truth that there is more in us than we know.

Platinum Bound - 70 Years Anniversary Indicative Itinerary
Day 1
Arrive at Outward Bound Australia’s National Campus in Tharwa for an 1100 start. Meet your group and your Group Leaders, who you will be with for the duration of your program. We will issue your equipment and check you have everything you need for the week before getting into your experience expectations.
After lunch we will meet the first peak challenge activity of high ropes and finish off with a session of baking some bespoke snacks to enjoy throughout the week.
Your first night will be in cabins, enjoying the comfort of a mattress and shower.
Day 2
Wake up early for a sunrise activity before breakfast. We will then get on the Outward Bound bus and head off site to Colimation Tower and access the Legoland boulders.
In the afternoon, complete your first hike to Honeysuckle Campground, where you will be camping out for the second night.
Day 3
The first half of today will be hiking part of the northern section of the Australian Alps Walking Track. We will spend the afternoon with some time for personal reflection as both a values journey, and meditative solo. We will then come back together for another overnight camping adventure.
Day 4
The morning will be the final half-fay hike, continuing the northern end of the Australian Alps Walking Track. The goal is to summit Mount Tennent and enjoy the eastern views over Namadgi National Park and across to the Murrumbidgee River.
Upon return to our national campus, we will have an afternoon to reflect on the program experience together. Dinner will be cooked over fire (conditions permitting), and we will then return to the cabins from Night 1 for a chance to shower and rest well.
Day 5
It’s the final day! Wake up early for a sunrise activity. After breakfast we will pack up the cabins before completing the last of the peak activities with a roping challenge.
We will celebrate together with a BBQ lunch and then welcome family and friends to witness your Blue Peter flag ceremony, before it’s time to depart (time to be confirmed).
