Duke of Edinburgh Award Supervisors
Supervise and support young leaders as they pursue their Duke of Edinburgh Award with Outward Bound Australia.

Are you an experienced bushwalker, like working with children and young adults and want to share your hiking knowledge and life skills?
Outward Bound Australia is an Open Award Centre for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award in ACT, NSW and Victoria. This means we now administer the entire award for young people whose school doesn’t run it. It also means we have increased demand for Adventurous Journeys, ranging from two to four days.
Join our team to supervise these hikes, mostly during school holidays and weekends. Casual rates are between $350 and $450 per day. You’ll be trained on Duke of Ed requirements, assessed on map-reading and group-management skills. Casual employment means you can fit this amongst your other adventures. It doesn’t suit everyone, but the right people are paid well to share their knowledge in a variety of locations across Australia. You’ll also get access to wholesale rates on outdoor gear; i.e. Pro Deals, as an added bonus. It could be the perfect opportunity to earn while doing what you love.
Retirees and mature-age people are encouraged to apply. Age is no barrier. If you’re fit, responsible and can communicate effectively in a group environment, you’re halfway there. Please email your experience and/or qualifications to: people@outwardbound.org.au.

Outward Bound currently offer Duke of Ed Award Adventurous Journeys in NSW and ACT, and plan to offer journeys in Victoria.
Our current areas include, but are not limited to:
- Royal National Park (NSW)
- Great North Walk (NSW)
- Namadgi National Park (ACT)
As a Duke of Ed Open Award Centre, Outward Bound attracts young people participating in the Award through their school or as individuals.
Sometimes the participants will already know each other, whereas other times they will be meeting new people.
Duke of Ed participants range in age from 14 to 24.
Groups sizes are most often between 5 and 10, and adventurous journeys can range between 2 and 8 days.
For Duke of Ed Award Supervisors, Outward Bound Australia offers casual contracts to fit your lifestyle and other commitments.
