Full-Time Employment

Unlike other outdoor education providers in Australia that offer solely seasonal employment, Outward Bound operates all year round and therefore offers full-time employment. There is flexibility in that casual and seasonal opportunities are also available.


Professional Development

As a Registered Training Organisation, Outward Bound has a Learning and Development department dedicated to offering its staff extensive internal and nationally recognised qualifications.

For example:

  • Diploma in Outdoor Recreation
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • Certificate IV in Outdoor Recreation
  • Coordinator and Manager Training

Our journey-based courses aim to act as a catalyst to help our participants discover, develop and achieve their potential. Our teams operate in mobile areas throughout the country, including the ACT, NSW, VIC and WA.

International Network

Outward Bound is an international organisation with around fifty schools in thirty-five countries. As a result, Outward Bound Australia has many international staff members, and overseas trips are a distinct possibility for senior staff.

I am 21 years old from Ballarat, Victoria. I was an Outward Bound participant at high school, and have always been passionate about the outdoors- getting outside for a mountain bike ride, a run or a bushwalk. I came into the internship with no specific outdoor training, so the internship so far has been a full-on experience!  Already we are qualified in wilderness first aid, know how to set up and run abseils, rock climbs and ropes courses, have done high ropes rescue and heaps more. We don't get all that many days off, but time flies because of all the cool stuff we are doing.
