2008 NSW/ACT Regional Achievement & Community Awards.
Hunter Youth Challenge proudly presented by Outward Bound Australia Regional Community Partnerships and supported by Coal and Allied Community Trust and Newcastle Permanent Building Society has been selected as one of three Finalist’s in the Community of the Year category for NSW and ACT.
Hunter Youth Challenge has been acknowledged for the outstanding achievements and contributions to their local community for it’s second consecutive year. This year there were over 400 nominations received for Regional Achievement and Community Awards. Hunter Youth Challenge has made it to the top three for the Community of the Year category for NSW and ACT.
The Coal & Allied Community Trust is a charitable organisation set up to assist with community initiatives and programs that have a significant effect on the communities in which Coal & Allied and its associated Rio Tinto Companies work. In the Hunter Valley Region of NSW where the Trust is based, they have supported Outward Bound’s Youth Initiative for over five years. Since 2001 the initiative has seen over 1000 students have the opportunity to attend foundation and leadership level programs.
