We are seeking a highly organised individual to provide administrative support to the CEO, taking responsibility for those activities that will allow the CEO to focus on the strategic direction of the organisation.

Skills and Experience

  • Excellent organisational skills, such as the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines; maintain a high level of administration; work within systems; exceptional attention to detail, and excellent time management skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills in all areas of communication. 
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to build rapport with all stakeholders, to consult effectively and negotiate agreed outcomes
  • Excellent problem solving skills and judgement
  • High level of computer literacy, including the ability to generate high quality documents and accurately use databases and Microsoft Office
  • Maturity to maintain matters in confidence

Roles and Responsibilities

Administration

  • Ensure all legal/administrative requirements of Outward Bound are met (e.g., ASIC, land lease, intellectual property).  
  • Draft correspondence, reports, etc. as required
  • Schedule executive and other meetings, organize agendas, take and distribute minutes, room bookings (E Team, Internal Safety Committee)
  • Create and maintain effective electronic and hard copy filing system

CEO Support

  • Coordinate and prioritise CEO diary, travel, appointments 
  • Consult regarding priorities and deadlines
  • Coordinate special projects as directed
  • Collate and compile statistics when required 
  •  Proofread and print documents when required

Board and Foundation

  • Schedule meetings, organize agenda, take and distribute minutes, and arrange venue details
  • Maintain official set of Australian Outward Bound Foundation minutes in National Register
  • Compile and distribute reports
  • Coordinate administrative requirements for AGM
  • Ensure all legal/administrative requirements are met (e.g., new Board members/ASIC) 
  • Establish working rapport with Board members and their assistants.

Location

National Base, Tharwa, ACT

Salary

4 days a week, or 30 hours per week. $32,000 p.a

I am 21 years old from Ballarat, Victoria. I was an Outward Bound participant at high school, and have always been passionate about the outdoors- getting outside for a mountain bike ride, a run or a bushwalk. I came into the internship with no specific outdoor training, so the internship so far has been a full-on experience!  Already we are qualified in wilderness first aid, know how to set up and run abseils, rock climbs and ropes courses, have done high ropes rescue and heaps more. We don't get all that many days off, but time flies because of all the cool stuff we are doing.
