The work of Outward Bound Australia and the Australian Outward Bound Development Fund is of tremendous benefit to many rural and disadvantaged youth around Australia, but wouldn’t be possible without the community mindedness and generosity of organisations such as the HBOSA Foundation.
In October 2006, Outward Bound Australia commenced a partnership with HBOSA Foundation to provide Outward Bound scholarships for individuals from regional and disadvantaged communities. Thanks to their support we provided a total of 144 participant scholarships in 2007.
Dear HBOSA Foundation: Thank you very much for sponsoring me for this amazing experience here with Outward Bound. We've learnt a lot about ourselves, the environment and lots of teamwork. We've been carrying packs and cooking our own food. We sleep in bivvies and have made lots of new friends. We have climbed on the largest ropes course in the southern hemisphere. It was really fun. We are living in the bush for a whole week without our usual lifestyles. We have no technology and have to rely mainly on ourselves and new friends. It truly has been a fantastic trip and I thank you so much for sponsoring me.
Thank you, Participant Aged 16
We are delighted to report that HBOSA Foundation will again fund $50,000 to the 2008 Regional Community Program. This will provide opportunities for disadvantaged youth to participate in an Outward Bound wilderness-based program.
The HBOS Australia Foundation operates as an independent company and works with charitable and not-for-profit organisations across Australia, supporting people and their local communities.
We say thankyou to HBOSA Foundation for being a part of helping young Australians to discover, develop and achieve their potential. For so many of our scholarship recipients, the assistance and encouragement they receive truly makes a difference.
