The Internship is an Outdoor Experiential Educator training program that aims to develop technical and facilitation skills for outdoor leaders. Methods of training include experience-based training and competency based assessment. It is an eight month residential program designed to train individuals as Group Instructors and Field Logistics personnel in the field of personal development, using the outdoors as a medium, and experiential education as the method. The Certificate IV we deliver is unique, in that work experience is built into the course, and participants are immersed in the Outward Bound culture. As 'Staff-in-Training', particpants form a valuable part of the team. The primary aim is to train future staff members, capable of leading groups in the outdoors and through various activities, with the aim of providing quality personal development programs. The program utilises a holistic approach to education. We combine off-the-job training in such things as technical skills, experiential education theory and practice, and facilitation skills, with on-the-job experience under the supervision of Senior Group Instructors, Coordinators, and Trainers. |
