Internship Investment
The Outward Bound Australia Certificate IV Internship costs $12,500* for Australians and $15,000** for overseas students. Here’s a summary of what you get for your money.
Remember, many of the components that are included in our Internship will not be included in a conventional Certificate IV Outdoor Recreation course.
- If you take part in our Internship then we believe that you’ve got what it takes to be an Outward Bound Instructor. All going well your Internship should lead to the offer of a two-year contract with Outward Bound Australia. Although you’ll pay up front* for the Internship you’ll also have the security and peace of mind of two years of paid work to follow it up.
- Our Internship is Certificate IV based. That means that at the end of the eight months you’ll have a Certificate IV in Outdoor Recreation.
- Our Internship is residential. It includes all food, rent, electricity, rates as well as local phone calls and internet access. As well as the obvious financial benefits associated with our package you also get to take part in an extended residential Outward Bound program. Outward Bound is a world-renowned leader in the delivery of personal development experiential based outdoor education. An eight-month residential program with us is not just a Certificate IV. It’s a life changing experience.
- The OBA Internship provides a lot more training and qualifications than you’d get on a normal Certificate IV. For example, in addition to all the normal Certificate IV competencies you’ll also get a LWAFA first aid certificate, a Bronze Medallion and four-wheel drive training. This additional training goes a long way towards making our Interns industry ready.
- You’ll start your Internship with an OBA course experience. This course alone has a high dollar value.
- Our Internship includes all travel costs, camping costs and equipment hire. You’ll also get a staff uniform and access to great pro deals from day one.
- Taking part in an OBA Internship guarantees you access to OBA work placements. This is a key component to any Certificate IV in Outdoor Recreation. Many conventional Certificate IVs cannot gain access to such an industry leader and many will provide far less than the 44 days of work place experience that we offer.
- Outward Bound is the world leader in the provision of cutting edge outdoor experiential education and delivers in more than 40 countries worldwide. The OBA Internship coupled with OBA work experience gives our staff unprecedented access to that network.
If you’re looking for the not only the best but the most cost effective way to kick start your career in the outdoors then the OBA Internship is probably for you.
