What training and qualifications does the Internship Program involve?
The Internship program consists of a number of training methods. Among these are theoretical based-training, practical training, on-the-job-training and work experience.
As a Registered Training Organisation, Outward Bound, in conjunction with other training providers, has the ability to deliver the following Nationally Recognised Qualifications:
- Wilderness First Aid
- Bronze Medallion
- Statements of Attainment in bushwalking, navigation, ropes course, rock climbing, abseiling, caving and four wheel driving, among others.
- Certificate IV in Outdoor Recreation
Theoretical and Practical Training
As a Registered Training Organisation, Outward Bound has the abilty to deliver the following Nationally Recognised Qualifications:
- Rafting Skills (Flat water and basic moving water)

Work Experience and On-the-Job Training
Work experience will take you to our mobile base camps across Australia, from the Snowy River in Victoria to southern and northern New South Wales; you may even be lucky enough to travel to Western Australia.
Work Experience and On-the-Job Training as a Group Instructor includes:
- Facilitating programs around National Base and in mobile areas
- Assisting with logistics initially, and then fulfilling a logistics role as per operational requirements
- Assisting with and completing Outward Bound general work duties
- Immersion in the Outward Bound community and lifestyle
