Marilyn Newport – Chief Executive Officer
Marilyn has rejoined Outward Bound Australia as Acting CEO in June 2017 having previously been CFO from January 2011 to February 2016 and fulfilling the role of Acting CEO for the latter part of that time.
Marilyn had previously been involved with establishing an independent, non-government, co-educational day school, with classes from kindergarten to year 12 in Geraldton, Western Australia. Marilyn had roles with the establishment committee, as Treasurer of the Board, Business Manager and Board member during her 13 year association with the school. Prior to that, her career involvement included accounting, computing, financial planning and small business.
She is passionate about outdoor experiential learning and was initially involved with Outward Bound in Western Australia through accompanying students on courses at Walpole, being the school liaison and backup co-ordinator at the school and in Walpole, and serving on the WA Development Council in Perth.
David Hedge – Chief Financial Officer
David has joined Outward Bound Australia having been involved in finance and business management in the Independent school sector for the past seven years. For the past two years, David has also represented his school on the Board of the Australian Independent Schools Association ACT.
Over the past 28 years, David’s experience has included owning, operating and managing businesses and business units and accomplishing business goals and objectives through effective planning, influencing and negotiating, organising, staffing, leading, and controlling of business assets and finances. This experience has been gained in accounting firms, not for profit enterprises and commercial accounting / management roles.
David’s plan is to apply everything he has learned through life and business experience, and use this knowledge to contribute to the senior management team at Outward Bound and help create opportunities and long term growth. He is also looking forward to strengthening his experience and learning and embracing the principles and core values and life skills that Outward Bound is renowned for.
Peter Shea – Human Resources Manager
Peter has joined Outward Bound Australia having been in the Human Resources profession for 23 years, across organisations in the manufacturing, aviation and utilities sectors. He has held senior operational and strategic roles in some of the biggest employers in these sectors in Australia. His expertise is in partnering with leaders and employees to design and implement organisational change, learning and development and work health and safety solutions that maximise the capability, engagement and performance of people across the organisation.
Peter is passionate about building strong, professional and trusting relationships within Outward Bound and realising the potential of the great people that work here. He has extensive workplace relations experience is at a workplace level across manufacturing, logistics, and engineering including the negotiation of key enterprise agreements, outsourcing agreements and transmissions of business. He has led workplace change initiatives associated with brown and greenfield manufacturing site development and productivity improvement programs.
His recent experience has included a mix of people strategy development in the areas of leadership development, diversity, workforce planning and people management systems (including remuneration and benefits) and the operational service delivery of bullying and harassment training and investigations, remuneration (including senior executive and Board payroll), capital project change management services, people systems development and support and leadership development programs at a number of levels.
He is actively involved with Scouts Australia and is on the Board of an alpine sports club in the NSW ski fields. He is a very keen windsurfer and sailor.
Jason Little – Director of Programs and Learning
Jason has a background working at a senior level in the NSW High School education sector with over 16 years’ experience. His passion for working with Youth at Risk and a life-long connection to the outdoors led to a career in Outdoor Education.
Jason’s time with Outward Bound Australia started in 2011 and he has worked in various roles in the outdoors industry as an instructor, facilitator, interpretive and eco walking guide, program manager and then General Manager of Outward Bound Australia based in Northern NSW.
As Direct of Programs and Learn, Jason’s focus is the safe delivery of exceptional, creative, outcomes focused programs.
Experiential learning and focusing on the significant shift in young people’s attitudes and thinking are key aspects of his philosophy.
Eva Breidenbach – Business Development Director
Seasoned Business Development Professional with 13 years global experience (United Kingdom, Europe, Australia & North America) in Sales, Business Development and Education Consultancy across the for purpose and corporate education sector.
Eva has been involved with Outward Bound internationally since 2001. She joined Outward Bound Australia’s Senior Leadership Team as the Business Development Director in November 2016, following five years as Business Development Manager for NSW. She is leading a team of dedicated Business Development Managers and Client Managers across the country to open the great opportunity of experiential learning to as many people as possible.
Eva is passionate about personal development and utilising the outdoors as a medium to facilitate positive change in individuals and groups. She holds a Masters Degree in Education and Sport Science from Heidelberg University in Germany and draws on many years of first-hand experience as group facilitator and outdoor education trainer when working with her clients on custom design training solutions.
Maintaining exceptional beginning-to-end customer experiences for all Outward Bound clients is her daily calling.
